Winter 2026 Updates

Talgarno Primary School has been buzzing with learning, friendship, community spirit and plenty to celebrate!

From camps and sport to special community celebrations and new initiatives, there has been lots happening across our school.

We started with a Working Bee, bringing families, grandparents, staff and volunteers together to improve our school grounds. Their generosity and ongoing support continue to make Talgarno a welcoming and vibrant place for our students.

Our Year 3 and 4 students enjoyed two days at 15 Mile Creek Camp, joining students from across the Upper Murray cluster to build confidence, resilience and new friendships.

We welcomed more than 100 students from Bethanga, Eskdale, Mitta Mitta and Upper Sandy Creek Primary Schools for our Upper Murray Cluster Sports Day. Students rotated through basketball, football and tennis activities led by experienced coaches and staff. More importantly, the day celebrated teamwork, sportsmanship and the friendships shared between our small rural schools.

Friday 26 June was a particularly special day as we celebrated the remarkable contribution of four local residents — Anthea and Graham Redman, and John and Julie Wilson. In recognition of their decades of dedication and support, the school oval and tennis court have been named Wilson Oval and Redman Court.

Their contribution is a wonderful example of the community spirit that has helped our school thrive — growing from just four students to 40 and becoming a school of choice.

Bridget returned to Talgarno to complete our new school mural, inspired by Lake Hume, our beautiful local surrounds and the kingfisher — the proud mascot of our school.

We have also launched our fresh, improved school website, providing an updated window into life at Talgarno and making it easier for families and our wider community to keep up with all that is happening at our school.
